La toponimia como Patrimonio Cultural Inmaterial

Resumen

Desde hace unos años se viene acentuando la preocupación social por la protección y conservación del patrimonio natural y cultural. Dentro de esta tendencia es de notable importancia la atención que se viene dedicando al patrimonio inmaterial o intangible, como tradiciones, creencias, canciones, lenguajes, etc. que completan a la que ya se venía dedicando a los objetos y monumentos materiales. Y entre aquellos se quiere subrayar en el presente artículo la importancia de los topónimos o nombres de lugar geográfico, tanto como referentes territoriales, tal como han sido hasta la fecha, como también como componentes de la cultura y patrimonio de ese mismo territorio y de las gentes que lo habitan.

Abstract

For a few years, the social concern for the protection and preservation of the natural and cultural legacy is being stressed. Within this trend, is of great importance the attention that has been devoted to intangible or immaterial heritage, such as traditions, beliefs, songs, languages, etc., that complement the one that was already devoted to material objects and monuments. And among those we want to highlight in this article the importance of toponyms or names of geographic locations, both as territorial references, as they have been to date, and as components of the culture and heritage of that same territory and of the people that inhabit it.
